Advances in to-day technology, intelligent systems together with intelligent software are
playing more and more important roles in our daily life and society. These exciting innovative
challenges present opportunities and directions for new and better life. While the basic principles
common to intelligent systems are not difficult, and many times are even intuitive, however,
they are often buried in the technical literature that can not be easily digested without proper
background. Furthermore, mathematics involved in deriving and justifying these techniques
can make the situation even worse. This has resulted in a gap between modern research in
the intelligence fields, and the real-life applications for such innovated technologies.
We have organized this conference to this area to bridge this gap, and help in creating an
understanding to explore such advanced techniques in intelligent systems by looking at the
latest ideas that come from world-wide academic research centers and institution, as well as
industrial sectors. This is achieved by presenting these techniques through latest research
results, case studies, and hands-on experience models.
The International Conference on Intelligent Systems (ICIS-2008) is indeed classified as the
first major international conference and gathering within the Middle East in large. Such a
dedicated gathering has been planned to bring together Researchers, Engineers, Developers
and Practitioners from academia and industry working in all interdisciplinary areas of
computational intelligence and system engineering to share their experience, and exchange
and cross-fertilize their ideas.
This conference serves as an opportunity and a platform for the dissemination of state-ofthe-art technology development, and implementations of intelligent systems, intelligent
technologies and useful applications in these fields.
I take this opportunity to invite respected Scientifics, manufacturers and suppliers that are
involved in this area of research and applications to participate in this prestigious gathering.
